I’m Alana.

I am a home birth midwife and a mother of two. I believe deeply in everyday magic, and was raised in a home with gratitude for the small things. My mama blessed me with the middle name, ‘Joy.’ In the crafting of my days, my work, and my precious time on this planet, my inquiry is: what is bringing me joy, how can I cultivate joy?

Here are some of the things that are bringing me joy these days: Big earrings, bright pops of color, large, bushy ferns, homemade birthday cakes, the quiet of early morning, salt baths, reading and snuggling my (not so little) littles in bed, a nip of mezcal when the full moon is out, boots, holding hands with my nieces, long, winding hikes with besties.

Prenatal Care

What if every prenatal visit left you feeling more confident, connected, and attuned to love?

In the current medicalization of pregnancy and birth, the emphasis remains on facts and data. Appointments can be informative, yet so impersonal. I can help you get out of information overwhelm and guide you in your discovery of what you want to do with the information. What resonates for you? For your family? What does your own intuition have to offer? This sacred time is about so much more than information!

Prenatal appointments last 75 minutes on average, with plenty of time for discussion, education, reflection and calling in the personal rituals to carry you through this pregnancy in a way that makes you feel safe and joyful.

Home Birth

I believe home birth is just that – birth’s true home. Bringing your baby into the world in the sanctity of your own home allows birth to emerge in a truly unreplicable way.

Home birth is for families who want to be centered in their care, who know the value of radical support and trust in their capacity to make the decisions that are right for them.

Postpartum Care

You don’t have to have a home birth to experience the blessings and benefits of postpartum midwifery care.

All postpartum dyads (postpartum person + newborn) deserve care that is tender, loving and individualized.

Partners also benefit greatly by receiving compassionate support and guidance during this precious time.

How we are taken care of and tended to in the postpartum is directly related to how well we are able to digest and integrate the experience of birth.

Postpartum care with a Midwife is unlike any other postpartum care out there. We are the experts in normal. I have sat at the foot of hundreds of beds supporting postpartum families, hearing their hearts, witnessing their stories.

“Alana was my champion when I wanted to give up, and the voice of calm when my wife needed support as my support person. This iteration of our family exists because of Alana, and she will always hold an incredibly special place in our hearts and in our family.”
